Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and the owner (), who runs I Am Mate ("we"). By using the app you agree to them.

1. What the app is

A non-sexual conversation app where you chat with AI characters for fun, company and practice. Every character is an AI, not a person. Replies are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, inappropriate or made up. Don't rely on them for medical, legal, financial, mental-health or safety decisions. The app isn't a crisis service: if you're in danger, call your local emergency number or a helpline listed on our safety page. It is not a dating service.

I Am Mate is an independent app. Replies are written by third-party AI models (currently Google Gemini, with Cloudflare Workers AI as a backup) that we access through their paid APIs. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google, Cloudflare or any other AI model provider; their names are trademarks of their owners.

2. Who can use it

You must be 18 or older. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for everything done with your account.

3. Acceptable use

Our acceptable use policy is part of these terms. In short, don't use the app to:

• create, request or share sexual, sexually suggestive, explicit or other NSFW content, or romantic or dating roleplay;
• create or seek any content that sexualises or endangers minors;
• harass, threaten or impersonate real people, or create characters based on real people without permission;
• get help with anything illegal, dangerous or harmful to others;
• try to get around the safety rules, limits or payment, scrape the service, or overload it;
• resell or automate access to the service.

We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

4. Your content

You own what you write. You give us permission to store and process it to run the app for you (including sending it to our AI providers, see the privacy policy). We don't use your chats to advertise to you or sell them.

5. Plus subscription

Plus is billed monthly or yearly in advance through our reseller our payment provider, who is the merchant of record and handles payment and tax. It renews automatically until you cancel; you can cancel anytime from "Manage plan" and keep Plus until the end of the paid period. Daily message limits are fair-use limits and may change with notice. See refunds.

6. Changes and availability

We're a small service and may change features, characters, limits or AI models, or pause the service. We'll give reasonable notice of changes that reduce what paying members get, and refund unused time if we shut Plus down.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The app is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

8. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the owner's country, without taking away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live.
