Questions
Are the characters real people?
No. Every character is an AI and says so. They're for fun, company and practice, not a replacement for real friends or professional help.
What does "memory" mean?
Every 10 messages or so, your friend writes a few short notes about you (your name, interests, what's going on in your life) so later chats feel personal. You can read and delete the notes anytime.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime from "Manage plan" in the chat. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. See refunds.
Who handles payment?
Our reseller our payment provider is the merchant of record. They handle payment and sales tax and show up on your statement.
What makes the characters talk?
Third-party AI models (currently Google Gemini). I Am Mate is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or any other AI provider.
Is there adult or romantic content?
No. I Am Mate is a friendly, non-sexual chat app, not a dating app. See our acceptable use policy.
